The Academy is the foundational education program of Community Youth Orchestra of Southern California, providing a weekly group class experience for string students in Preschool/Pre-K up to Grade 4 that incorporates elements of Suzuki, Dalcroze, Kodaly, and other popular early childhood music education methods. A wide range of instructional tools, including newly-developed distance learning technologies, are incorporated into the curriculum to best support students and their parents, which includes differentiated instruction for young musicians from beginning through advanced levels. The program currently involves violin students in Suzuki Violin Method (Books 1-10) or equivalent, and will expand in future years to include Viola, Cello, and Double Bass.
