During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are temporarily suspending all in-person ensembles, and offering a specialized distance learning curriculum through our Remote Ensemble Program. We hope to return to in-person ensembles by Fall 2021.
Our Remote Orchestra ensemble course online allows young musicians in grades 5-12to develop critical performance, musicianship, and social skills through orchestral performance. The online-only group which meets on Friday evenings at 7:00pm-7:45pm focuses on score study, sight-reading, sectionals, and a collaborative performance mashup project. Music includes a range of classical and commercial masterworks with level-differentiated parts to support all levels of participation by String, Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion students. Meeting Dates (Fridays @ 7:00-7:45pm Pacific Time): Jan 29, Feb 5, 19, 26, Mar 5, 12, 19, 26, Apr 9, 16, 23, 30, May 7, 14 No Meeting on February 12th and April 2nd Spring Semester 2021 Tuition (14 meetings): $150 |
About the InstructorConductor Joseph Kaye is Director of Orchestras at Santa Ana High School and a faculty member at Santa Ana College. An experienced conductor, violin performer, and music educator, he earned his Master of Education degree from Lesley University where his thesis focused on Equity in Integrated Teaching Through the Arts, and has taught ensemble music in grades 5-12 in public schools since 2005. He is also the recipient of the 2013 Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation Grant and was recognized in 2009 as Imperial County's Teacher of the Year.
