Summer Camp

Sign up for the CYOSC 2024 Summer Camp to play in ensembles with your peers and receive coaching from experienced teachers.

We are waiting to confirm the venue but it will be in the Irvine/Tustin area as close to the highway as possible.

Summer camp students should prepare one audition video that includes:

• Student clearly stating their name and grade in the 2024-2025 school year.
  
• A scale of their choice (please say what scale you will play)
  
• A solo piece that demonstrates the student's current playing ability. This part should be no longer than 2 mins so choose an excerpt from their current solo if necessary.
  

Camp activities will include:

• Ensemble rehearsals
  
• Games
• General music education (e.g., fundamentals, music theory, music history, etc.)
• One private coaching session  during the week (half hour)
• Snack & lunch break
  
• Concert on Friday evening (June 14th) to perform repertoire learned during the camp
  
  

Concerto Festival

Students may additionally participate in the concerto festival. This would give them the chance to rehearse (twice during the week) and perform a movement from a concerto of their choice (provided we can find the music for the orchestra to perform with them).

Students who wish to participate in the concerto festival should prepare an additional video audition of their entire concerto movement (no accompaniment necessary). A maximum of 5 students will be chosen for the concerto festival.

The additional cost for students participating in the concerto festival is $100.

Concerto festival students should be prepared to stay until 2:40pm on the days their rehearsals are scheduled.
