Eriko Tsuji - Violin / Viola
A native of Kyoto, Japan, Eriko earned her bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts, and came to the United States in 2010 to earn her master’s degree in violin performance from UCLA. She is currently a member of the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC), and is a certified teacher through The Royal Conservatory of Music. As a competition violinist she earned Third Place in the Gail Newby Concerto Competition (2013) and was a finalist in the Chesapeake Chamber and Coleman Chamber Music Competitions, and participated in a music residency at Banff with Quartet LaMi. For over a decade, Eriko has been working with students of varying ages and levels of musical accomplishment, from early childhood through college level. She joined the music team of CYOSC at the beginning of 2021 and currently directs the Sinfonetta Ensemble.

Shawn Berry - Cello
Shawn graduated from California State University Long Beach in 2020, receiving a bachelor’s in music performance. Since moving to Orange County in 2020, he teaches privately, coaches various ensembles, and performs throughout the county. He coached
the string sections of the String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, and the Chamber Orchestra at San Clemente High School and is currently the Instructional Music Assistant at Newhart Middle School. He also coaches the cello sections of the Orange County Youth Symphony and String Ensemble. He studied under Heriberto Ramos, Dr. Leif Woodward, and Joon Sung Jun; and performed in masterclasses with Hans Jorgen Jensen, Dennis Karmazyn, and Kimberly Fisher to name a few.
Shawn has been a member of orchestras and festivals including: American Youth Symphony, Colorado College Summer Music Festival, 2015 NAfME All-National Honor Orchestra, and Music House International (part of the Philadelphia International Music Festival). He was the principal cellist in the 2015 California All-State High School Honor Orchestra, Orange County Youth Symphony, and in the festival orchestra of the Cremona International Music Academy. He performed Variations on a Rococo Theme with the Orange County Youth Symphony at the Musco Center for the Arts and performed the first movement of the Vivaldi Violin and Cello Concerto with Marc Roveti and the festival orchestra of Music House International. Shawn is also an alumnus of the Orange County School of the Arts and CYOSC. During his time with CYOSC, he performed in the Symphony, Solisti, coached the cello sections in Sinfonia and participated in a conducting internship under Mr. Gene Wie where he conducted Symphony in a performance of the Overture of the Marriage of Figaro. He currently leads the CYOSC Philharmonia Ensemble.

Crystaline Tran - Violin / Viola
A native of Southern California, Crystaline began studying the violin at the age of nine. She has performed across the globe and has played on stages in Spain, England, Ireland, Wales, Germany, and Austria. Her playing has also taken her to local venues including Walt Disney Concert Hall, Royce Hall at University of California, Los Angeles, and Henry and Reneé Segerstrom Concert Hall. She currently leads a balanced career as an educator and performer in Orange County and Los Angeles. Crystaline most recently performed in Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Dosan Symphony Orchestra and regularly plays with the Mozart Classical Orchestra. She was also a member of the American Youth Symphony. Recent projects have included live performances of original works for major streaming platforms, including Apple TV+, Amazon, CBS, and Paramount+, recording at the Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros. Studios. She also performed in the premiere of Stephen Ferre’s “Postcards from Home” for the 2022 College Music Society conference.
Crystaline earned a Bachelor in Music at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music (BCCM) at California State University, Long Beach on full scholarship. She recently completed her graduate studies at the BCCM under the tutelage of Moni Simeonov. Crystaline has also studied with Andrea Byers, Iman Khosrowpour, and Rocky Lee. She has studied chamber music with Sheng-Ching Hsu, Joon Sung Jun, and Henry Gronnier, and has performed in masterclasses for Edwin Kaplan, Titilayo Ayangade, Stephen Miahky, Guillaume Sutre, Emmanuel Borok, the Argus Quartet, Michael Heald, and Korbinian Altenberger. Crystaline plays on a 17th-century English violin by Dykes and Sons. She joined CYOSC in 2025 and teaches the Sinfonietta Ensemble.

Joseph Kaye - Violin / Viola
Joseph Kaye is Director of Orchestras at Santa Ana High School and a faculty member at Santa Ana College where he teaches violin and viola. An experienced conductor, violin performer, and music educator, he earned his B.S. in Music Education from Ball State University and his M. Ed. from Lesley University. In 2005 he started his teaching career with the award-winning string program for El Centro Elementary School District. In 2009 Joseph was awarded the Imperial Valley ACSA Teacher of the Year award while maintaining a healthy private violin studio Then in 2012 he then moved up to Orange County and helped revamp the orchestra program at Santa Ana High School. In both districts, Mr. Kaye has hosted and adjudicated numerous SCSBOA festivals, served on various leadership roles within ECESD, SAUSD, IVMEA, and SCSBOA. In both 2014 and 2015 Joseph was recognized by the OCMAA as an outstanding arts educator. In addition to his teaching endeavors, Joseph is an avid chamber music and orchestral musician as he is a current member of Symphony Irvine, Bellflower Symphony Orchestra, and La Mirada Symphony Orchestra. Joseph currently directs the CYOSC Symphony Orchestra.
